Registered Health Information Technicians (RHITs) can now get an online Bachelor of Science degree in health information management (HIM) in about two years from the University of Cincinnati (UC). To be eligible for the program, individuals must be certified RHITs (or RHIT-eligible and taking the registry exam within six months) and have an associate's degree in HIM. RHITs who hold a different associate's degree will be considered for entrance on a case-by-case basis.
Online students are assigned to small groups with a professional facilitator, which gives the students the opportunity to learn with their peers.
UC's new program is pending accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management. For more information, contact an UC advisor at 800-499-6813, or visit www.himonline.uc.edu.
